Description of Book

Always be yourself

That was the last advice Scout's Grandma Nora gave her before she died. Scout has spent her life trying to be anything but, but she has a chance to start anew as she moves several states away to college. She had always thought the glowing aura she saw around some people was a childhood fancy, but when it starts coming back just as she's starting her new life, she learns there was much hidden about who she truly is.

Thankfully, she has a motley crew to help her along the way: a spunky bookseller, a trustworthy pub owner, a commanding grandmother, a possible best friend, and a hot rocker boy who only has eyes for her.

First off I have to say I have read Unless You Can Be a Unicorn and am absolutely in love with it!!

What was your inspiration for this book? Unicorns don’t seem to be wrote about very often. What made you decide to write about them?
I actually had pieces of this book in my head for a long time, but it wasn’t until someone posted a silly thing on FB asking people what kinds of shifters there needed to be more of that it all fell into place.  A unicorn immediately popped into my head and would not leave. That was a few years ago and finally I decided I needed to let them out.

What was the most difficult part of writing?
I have always woven stories both in my head and on paper. I can’t remember a time I didn’t have something I was working on. For me, the hard part was getting up the courage to share those stories with others.  It took decades to take that risk and follow my dream and I am so very glad I did.

I have a question I have been dying to ask. Are you going to write more books with Scout and the gang’s adventures? I have to say I am in love with those characters and your writing.
Thank you so much!  I am so excited that readers are asking for more. Yes, B3 is a series that will follow the crew as they all find true love, conquer evil, and things that are too spoilery to share. The next book, Ask Me About My Unicorn is all about Val and Lachlan and I am planning on an early 2015 release.

Are the characters based on any people in your life?
I would say that no character is specifically based on anyone I know, although people in my life have of course influenced me and I know that there is a lot of me in Scout. I have, however, included a lot of little things about my life throughout the book. The college is named after the town my grandparents lived in, for example.

If you could live in any book, which would you live in and why?
That is such a difficult question because I think it really depends on the day. Some days I would choose being in Quinn Loftis’s Grey Wolves series finding my inner wolf. Other times, I would choose hanging out at B3 finding new books. Yet others, I want to be hanging with Elizabeth Kirke’s MTM crew. The longer I think about this question the longer my list gets. There are so many amazing worlds out there in book land.

When deciding what you want to read, what genre do you gravitate towards?
I like a lot of variety in my reading, but my favorite go to read is always shifters. I joke that I am a shifter addict, but it might actually be true. I like bear shifters, wolf shifters, panther shifters, and even found a hedgehog shifter book I enjoyed. The idea of true fated love always pulls me in.

What advice could you give to anyone aspiring to write?

Write, write and when you are done with that, write some more. Also, be brave and share your writing.  That is the advice I wish I had been given.

I want to give a big THANK YOU to Delphina Henley for taking time out to answer these questions. You are AWESOME!!!

My Review
I have to say I was a little iffy about if I would like this or not. I'm happy to say this book was amazing. I was sucked in from beginning to end. I love the character Scout. She is very relatable and I was feeling the same things she was. Delphina Henley creates lovable characters and a fascinating storyline. She really made me want to be a Unicorn!!! I’m excited for another adventure and can’t wait! I would recommend this book to anyone who likes shifters and a faster storyline.
