An Angel Falls series Book 1 & 2 by Jody A. Kessler, Review

Death Lies Between Us by Jody A. Kessler

Saving the life of someone you love should not be the worst thing you have ever done, unless you’re an Angel of Death.

Frustrated with his position as an angel, Nathaniel Evans casts aside the rules of the afterlife and rescues nineteen year old Juliana Crowson from freezing to death. His inability to watch Juliana suffer causes a sequence of deadly accidents, and he soon becomes her constant protector.
In the mountains of Colorado, Nathaniel comforts Juliana as she struggles to understand her paranormal abilities while coping with her guitar-playing brother’s recently exposed secrets. When an ill-tempered Native American shaman teaches Juliana the difference between ghosts and place memories, she decides she wants nothing to do with the supernatural world. Too bad she doesn’t know that Nathaniel is part of it.

Will fate allow them to be together, or has Nathaniel made the biggest mistake of his afterlife?

Great book! I really enjoyed reading Death Lies Between Us. I was kept on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Jody A. Kessler does a great job with the world she has created and helping us to visualize it all. I found the Native American stories, which were told to Jules, to be fascinating.

We are taken on a journey of forbidden love, danger, and spirits. As I read I began wondering how Jules had survived this long on her own. Danger doesn’t just follow her she seems to run headlong into it. Then when I thought I had everything figured out I was knocked for a loop. I love when a story isn’t so predictable. This book is like a taste of a world that I can’t get enough of. After finishing I immediately started book 2 Angel Dreams.

Nathaniel is on an assignment. He guides souls to the afterlife after their bodies die. But this time something is different. He can’t seem to get Jules out of his head. He goes throughout the book protecting her from one mishap after another. Will he be able to do his job or will he break the rules for one girl? Jules is a college student home on summer break and helping out her Native American grandma in her herb shop. Her world is turned upside down when she begins seeing things that aren’t really there. She also gets herself in all kinds of trouble after she learns that she doesn’t know her brother as well as she thought. Nathaniel seems to pop up whenever danger is near. Will Jules figure out why Nathaniel always seems to be around? What does life hold for Jules?

Angel Dreams by Jody A. Kessler

Supernatural boundaries will be crossed as Angel of Death, Nathaniel Evans, risks his eternal soul to save the one he loves, the paranormally gifted and nature-loving, Juliana Crowson.

While working with a new client, Nathaniel finds out that pissing off a demon-wielding warlock in order to help a suicidal teen with misplaced sexual tendencies may be the last thing he ever does as an angel. Unable to stand aside, Juliana’s involvement in Nathaniel’s new case quickly develops into a misadventure with gun-toting bikers, table dancing, and a shamanic exorcism performed by her temperamental Native American friend, Chris Abeyta.
Can Nathaniel and Juliana’s love endure blood-letting rituals in the forest while helping a terrified teen find the will to live, or will fate and the rules of the afterlife tear them eternally apart?

Jody A. Kessler does it again. This book is amazing. The demon possession gave me the willies, but it was still a great book. She makes it all so believable. At times I wanted to grab the characters out of the book and shake them while saying, “Don’t you see what is going on?” Her writing just makes me feel like I am a part of the story. The exorcism was written with such great detail and I found it to be so eerie. Jody writes with such passion that it truly show in her work. The characters are easy to relate too and her world is brought to life in living color through her words. I can’t wait to continue on this journey in book 3.

Since Nathanial went against the rules he has a new job. Save a suicidal girl, but how? Her situation is dire and he has no idea how to proceed. Then Jules get involved and that is when all hell breaks loose. They must battle demons and find allies. The problem is, who should they trust? Jules learn more about her abilities and finds that she can do things she has never dreamed of.

This love story seems to have never ending problems. It picks up directly where the last book left off and again Jules seems to get into some of the worst predicaments. But now the threat to her life is a demon wielding wizard. Unlike the last book Nathanial is now running headlong into danger himself with one goal, save Jules. Will their love survive this? Will they?
